[Bioconversion] Fw: Request up-date on India Bio-gas

Dear All,

I am thinking to help some friends in the village to build a small scale bio-gas digester.  Rice flour and sugar cane juice are possible raw materials.

I would like to hear an up-date from our esteemed colleague, Dr.A.D.Karve about improvements to the simple digesters he described in his postings last year.  What is the optimum size recommended for single family?  Cow manure was mentioned as a starter inoculants, is that still considered the best starter?  Can cow manure be used as feed stock in conjunction with sugar or starch?  Is stirring necessary?

Has anyone else tested the sugar/starch method?
