     On one hand, AJH's definition of "biomass" is short and snappy. On the 
other hand, with particular reference to "food vs fuel" controversies, I 
suspect that it would further antagonize the agricultural traditionalists and some 
of the others who are not already "true believers". Many of these are turned 
off by "biomass", even when it is given a more prosaic definition.

Psychologically the only explanation which I can come up with is that 
technical jargon, especially scientific jargon, smacks of "elitism" to the kind of 
people who call environmentalists, "tree huggers".

Anyone with some political science or psychology background on our List ?
