An Informal Survey of Voters

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Our local group known as Concerned Democrats were wondering

why our state went Republican in the last election. So we decided to

split up and take an informal survey of people who had voted in the

last election and then get back together to compare notes.

Over the next two weeks our group interviewed hundreds of voters

and determined the majority of the people in our area usually vote

Republican saying they "don't trust government"! That feeling we

can understand but we also made several interesting discoveries of

an incidental nature about the people in this area. Below are related

some of the discoveries and revelations I found ....

A Democrat bought a new fridge for his house. To get rid of his old
fridge, he put it in his front yard and hung a sign on it saying: "Free
to good home. If you want it, take it". For three days the fridge sat
without even one person looking twice at it. He eventually decided
that his untrusting Republican neighbors were too un-trusting of this

deal. Thinking it must look to good to be true he changed the sign

to read: "Fridge for sale $50". The very next night someone stole it.

------------------

While looking at a house, my brother who is a Democrat, asked the

real estate agent which direction is North because, he explained, he

didn't want the sun waking him every morning. So she asked him,

"Does the sun rise in the North?" When my brother explained that

the sun rises in the East, and has for sometime, she shook her head

and said, "Oh, I don't keep up with all that stuff"

. . . . . . . .He found out she votes Republican!

-------------------

I work in technical support for a 24/7 call center. One day I got a call

from an individual I happen to know who asked me what hours we are

open. I told him, "The number you dialed is open 24/7." He responded,

"Is that Eastern or Pacific time?" I said, "Pacific"

. . . . . . . . .I happen to know he is a Republican!

A co-worker and I were eating lunch in the company cafeteria, when we
overheard one of the administrative assistants talking about the sunburn
she got on her weekend drive to the seashore. She said she drove down in

a convertible, but "didn't really think she'd get sunburned because the car

was moving"

. . . . . . . . . She votes Republican!

My sister has a lifesaving tool in her car. It's designed to cut through a
seat belt if she gets trapped inside. She keeps this tool in the trunk.

. . . . . . . My sister ALSO votes Republican!

Some friends and I were on a beer run and noticed that the cases were
discounted 10% at a nearby store. Since it was a big party, we bought

2 cases. We asked the cashier how much we owed and he multiplied

2 times 10% and gave us a 20% discount.

. . . . . . . Upon asking we learned he ALSO votes Republican!

I was hanging out with another friend when we saw a large woman with

a nose ring attached to an earring by a chain. My friend said, "Wouldn't

the chain rip out when she turned her head?" When I explained that a

person's nose and ear always remain the same distance apart no matter

which way the head is turned my friend said "Oh that's right".

. . . . . . . . . My friend ALSO votes Republican!

When I couldn't find my luggage at the airport baggage area the other

day I went to the lost luggage office and told the woman there that my

bags hadn't showed up. She smiled and said not to worry since she is

a trained professional and that I was in good hands. "Now," she asked,

"has your plane arrived yet?"

. . . . . . . . . Upon asking I learned she ALSO votes Republican!

While eating at the Pizza Parlor I observed a local man ordering a small

pizza to go. When the pizza pie was cooked and clerk asked if he would

like his pizza cut into 4 pieces or 6 the man thought a moment and said,

"Cut it into 4 pieces; I'm not really hungry enough to eat 6.

. . . . . . . . . Yep, you guessed it, he votes Republican too.

Comparing our notes we now know who elects the politicians

and why this state can be counted on to go Republican!
