Driving off the volatiles through preheating the wood chips without using
those volatiles seems counterintuitive to my uneducated mind. Gasification is
a process to release the energy of the fuel through volatile gasses. (Or I
think it is)
Aren't there systems that use external heat to volatilize fuels and produce
combustible gases and charcoal? Wouldn't this torrified wood have gone
through the same process? If so, valuable gases would be produced and should be
used in the end process whether it is heat or engine fuel. Not to recycle the
gases would be a great waste.
