New biodiesel production in the Brazil is accounced at scales of 60,000
liters per day or 20 million liters per year with expansion to 50 million
liters per year (13 MMGPY). About the smallest US plant seems to be 8500
gallons per day (32,000 L/day) for $3 million. New US plants have been
announced at 30 million gallons per year or about 113 million liters per
year for $30 million.
Micro Biodiesel: Are there small commercial production facilities in the US
that might serve the fuel and heating needs of a few farms? What is the
feasibility of a small-scale oil seed crushing facility for selling the
vegetable oil and by-products and converting the vegetable oil into
biodiesel? What capacities have been built and at what cost?
