While I am finding good news about biogas, here is more from the Ashden Awards:

I did the judging visit to Dr Karve in Pune (he is on these discussion
groups, but more active on the Stoves list than on anaerobic digestion,
though).
I thought I knew a reasonable amount about biogas, but learnt a lot from
this visit. His point is that dung is a poor feed for biogas plants, as the
animals have removed much of the useful feedstuffs. Waste food is much
better for gas production and removes the need to dispose of it.

This project follows the more traditional Chinese line on biogas plants.

This one from South India puts the empasis on fertilizer from biogas.
