[Digestion] Digester for Municipal Waste (Bernd Haase)

Dear Dr. Karve and Bernd,

I seem to recall back in about 1995 seeing a test anaerobic digester at an
appropriate technology development center in Bangalore (forgot the name of
the place.... was it ASTRA or something like that? or India Institute of
Technology....??). As I recall, there was a large ferro-cement tunnel about
2.6 m diameter x 6 meters long with a siphon type water trap at each end to
keep gas from escaping. We were told that the test was successful and was
being scaled-up (40t per day sounds right) at an other site. We were there
to look at low cost building materials, so only heard about the digester in
passing. Anyone know more details?

Robert in Phnom Penh
