[Digestion] the horizontal digester from Bangalore

Dear Robert,
this digester is called plug flow digester. It uses green leaves as
feedstock. It consists of a concave underground tunnel, into which you
pushed green leaves from one end and the spent leaves came out from the
other end. The material remained in the fermenter for a period of about 36
days. It was tested by the Bangalore workers under field conditions and a
paper was published about it. The main difficulty was that the green leaves
were collected by the users in the lands surrounding the village and they
soon ran out of the leaves. The authors came to the conclusion that you
needed dedicated fields, similar to plantations of mulberry for supplying
leaves to silkworms or fields producing green fodder for cattle. Such an
arrangement would make the leaves very costly.
