Paul,

Have you taken a deep look at the claims of Jean Pain whereby he CLAIMS to generate, what appears to be a significant daily production, of biogas from wood shavings.

>From my point of view, leaving wood shavings soak in water for two months before using them would take a great deal of tankage which was not in evidence in his small demonstration unit. Also the digestible cellulose content of most woods is quite low unless you use "trickery" like acid or base treatment or boiling which was also not evidenced in his writings.

Could this be a fantasy written by a "wanna-be" self sustainer with little or no biogas operating experience in the 1980's? Am I the only one seeing this??

I would suspect that something such as he presents could be done with green wastes, grains or manure which have a higher soluble solids content but am having a bit of difficulty getting his numbers to jive with his diagram and claims. Using these feedstocks, the process is used successfully all around the world - but woodshavings???

What are your thoughts?
