Hello every one
A formula that is sometimes used för the theoretical methane production potential from one mole of organic substance with the chemical formula CaHbOcNdSe is (a/2+b/8-c/4-3d/8-e/4)moles of Methane but this does not consider the energy consumption so the figure of 0,5 cubic meter per kg of consumed digestible biomas is better. If you are interested in the energy efficiency you must also consider the heat uset for pasteurisation of the material which may be required by authorities and which als may be beneficial for the process. In addition you maus also consider the electricity consumption of the plant with all pumps, stirers, fans etc. But this depends on the design of plant. It is not certain that a very advanced process has higher energy efficiency than a more simple one.

If you know the Volatile Solids content you can estimate the methane production using the guides that each kg of VS destroyed gives 0.5 cubic metres of methane and you will get about 70% VS reduction in a digester.
