[Digestion] Sources of methanogens?

G'day All,

I have a query from a Malaysian student wanting to show for a Project
that vegetable waste can make biogas, but not using manure as a
bacterial source (and I get a number of queries about digesting
vegetable waste!).

Any suggestions of how to introduce the correct bacteria (preferably
using readily available materials and simple techniques, but anything
may help)?
