[Digestion] Biogas and Bolivia

  As I am working in similar situations as yours, I would like to know something more about your experience in the cold Altiplano, hoping that it will be of interest for the List too:
   
  - how much biogas do produce your digesters in the altiplano  (if you can tell me the efficiency in m3 biogas/m3 digester/day) 
   
  - which is the volume of the standard digester for a standard family
   
  - really your digesters are producing biogas with a slurry temperature of just 10 C ?!?! 
   
  - any value about the durability of the plastic of the digester (covered with greenhouse)?

Hi everybody.

I’m new on this mail list. Im Spanish, so sorry about my English.
I’m working at Bolivia since 2002 with tubular biodigesters. The technology
has been development for use in the altiplano, 4000 meter over sea level,
with ambient temperatures under 0ºC. The biodigester are very big if we
compare it with the biodigesters for the jungle, and are inside a greenhouse
in the way to keep 10ºC working temperature. The cost for this biodigester
is about 150 $us.

The german cooperation (GTZ) is financing 1/3 of the cost in materials for
every biodigester installed. As well, we are making workshops in different
cities of Bolivia for the technology transfer to the NGOs and professional
that want to learn the technology. We want big scale divulgation of the
technology in Bolivia, at the altiplano, velley, and trpical lands of the
countrty. At the moment there are a NGO s working with experience, and five
more beginning to work in this area. 

I hope that in the next months can show you a free guide for the design and
installation of tubular biodigesters. It will be in Spanish
