[Digestion] identification of unknown bacteria in food waste and methanogens

Hello and good day everyone,
   
  does anyone knows what methods been use to identify the methanogens in the sludge from anaerobic pond???
   
  and if possible the methods to identify the bacteria in food waste to because im going to produce biogas from mixture of food waste and sludge
  (source of methanogens).
