"Food and Water Security for Latin America"

The International Conference on Sustainable Sanitation is being organized to
increase the communication and knowledge exchange. In particular, the
Conference is meant to provide a forum for Latin American representatives to
share their experiences, while having direct exposure to the
state-of-the-art in other regions of the world.



Students, researchers, practitioners, project implementers, NGOs and
international cooperation organisms concerned in planning, health and
environmental aspects of sustainable sanitation are invited to participate.



Papers and posters within the following Conference themes are welcome:

   - Ecosan planning, promotion and support,
   - Case studies,
   - Affordable sanitation concepts (economy),
   - Social & cultural aspects of Ecosan,
   - Dry sanitation systems,
   - Urine diverting toilets/urine treatment/use as fertilizer,
   - Greywater/rain water treatment and reuse,
   - Decentralized wastewater treatment systems / condominium (collection
   systems and off-site systems)
   - Urban agriculture / permaculture (using treated / sanitized human
   excreta and / or kitchen waste compost)
   - Energy and sanitation,
   - Clean Development Mechanisms (CDM) and sanitation,
   - Integrating liquid and solid waste management,
   - Megacity sanitation concepts, and
   - Wastewater and sludge reuse (domestic sewage).
