I'm getting the final information over the next two
weeks for a proposal to the US DOE Clean Cities
Program and CMAQ for our biogas bus project here in
Eugene, OR.

The project is a partnership between City of Eugene,
Eugene Sustainability Manager Felicity Fahy,
Metropolitan Wastewater Management Commission, Lane
Transit District and Lane Community College.

After examining several options that included
fumigation, running a 30% biodiesel and 70% biomethane
mix, we've decided it's worth the extra money to
pursue a preowned CNG bus. It was not so much engine
changeout, or "repowering" as its called in the biz,
it was the storage rack for the cylinders and will be
easier to comply with regulations for passenger
vehicles. This bus will run 100% biomethane captured
from our wastewater plant.

We will be "sharing" the biogas with a GE Jenbacher in
operation at the plant. We will put in a control valve
after the carbon filters and iron sponge that remove
the siloxanes and H2S. They do not filter out the CO2
for the stationary generator, but we will have to
before our compressors.

We will be using either a FMQ 8 or FMQ 10 from
http://www.fuelmaker.com for compressors and fueling
station. They already installed a CNG fueling station
in our city at the state motor pool. Most likely we
will slow-fill a storage tank and then fast-fill the
bus so we can refuel at the wastewater plant. There
are no facilities for refueling it at the bus yard. We
are looking at using membrane separation to remove the
CO2, but would like to know if anybody has experience
with the water column separation system? or
alternatives?

I'd also like to know if there are other wastewater
facilities adding carbon from agricultural waste to
increase gas yields? or where I could look for some
info on this.

I could also use some leads on pre-owned CNG buses in
North America that is still in decent shape.
