[Digestion] electricity and compressing biogas

G'day All,

Engineers are probably particularly aware of inefficiencies and the
losses incurred each time energy is transformed. In a world where there
is limited energy is it really smart to use energy simply to try and
make a more convenient form of energy?

Lets say we have a cupfull of energy, is it acceptable to use half the
cup of energy to change from a gas to a liquid or to electricity and end
up with 1/8 of a cup of liquid/electrical energy when there is demand
for a whole cup of biogas energy for cooking?

The wind energy proposed for compressing biogas may be needed to run
electronic communications or medical equipment rather than providing
transport convenience!

Electricity may be made using solar, wind or microhydro - leaving biogas
for cooking/heating/lighting (London's gaslights ran off biogas!) and
absorption refrigeration, then run stationary machinery if you have met
the priority needs for biogas.

Happy digesting,
HOOROO
