[Digestion] request for information on available biogas technology training

I hate to be so vague, but we have just begun to articulate a need for
biorefinery operators- sophisticated digesters are another responsibility
for busy family farms; so we have to not only staff them, but include remote
instrumentation.

As a result, I've sketched out a certificate course for Kennebec Valley
Community College, affiliated with our partner, the TEAGUE BIO-TECHNOLOGY
CENTER of Maine at http://biotechme.com/Welcome.htm

In discussing the course with a curriculum director, he mentioned a similar
course offered in Wisconsin. Digesters require a background in electricity,
ag. engineering, biochemistry, hydraulics, explosive gas handling, etc.; as
well as a detailed operations manual and some degree of redundancy--two
boilers, two generators, extra pumps, etc.

PENN STATE University's biomass Energy center at
http://www.bioenergy.psu.edu/ and Cornell's Manure Management Program at
http://www.manuremanagement.cornell.edu/ are two resources I consult with;
as well as the WORLD BANK in regard to their digester program in Nepal. Both
the New Mexico State U. and Texas A & M. have fairly extensive programs in
Ag. Engineering, as does U.C. Davis.

If people are looking for an inexpensive small 'farm' digester; I have plans
on my website for a 50 gal. digester using 50 gal. drums....gas produced
would power a rototiller, etc. I will be posting the Chinese tanks--double
dome design soon, and have a pic of a two tank digester from New Zealand.

CHEERS!

I am planing to construct a digester on my farm as a
way of tackling farm waste. could anyone advice me on
where to go for training and consultation on digester
construction and management.
