You could reduce the pH by reducing the HRT (hidraulic retention time) near the minimum value of HRT.
Here the steps hydrolysis, acidification, acetogenesis should be already done (that cause the pH lower due to the fatty acids content), but not the metanogesis. You have still fatty acids (incl. acetate) rest in the broth.
But you may have problem with the process stability. In this area the pH could decrease further (souring) if the metanogenesis will not work any more (they don't like the low level of pH).
You have to have a good process control system or a excellent operator.
