Greetings,
A brief description of the Nisargruna plant in Mumbai is available at:
http://www.barc.ernet.in/webpages/letter/2004/200408-8.pdf
I have visited Dr Kale at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre in Mumbai and the
system seems very effective. It is a two stage digester with a solar heated
aerobic digester as the first stage. The main second stage digester uses
the standard KVIC floating drum design. The two stages break down food
wastes fairly quickly and thoroughly. I had an MSc student who looked at
the technical, social and economic feasibility of the system and the
results of his analysis were very positive.
There are some pictures on: http://www.green-ensys.org/site/Biogas_Plant.html.
BARC are commercialising the system and prepared to sell licenses to
interested parties.
Cheers,
David F
