Waste food in the form of sugar, starch, protein, or fat yield about 250 g
methane per kg feedstock if digested in the single phase anaerobic digester.
In the Nisargaruna technology, everything goes first through the aerobic
phase, whereby a lot of material, that could have yielded methane under
anaerobic conditions, gets aerobically digested to produce carbon dioxide.
That is why Nisargaruna yields only about 100g methane per kg dry weight of
feedstock. We feel that if you have to use two phase digestion, only the
leafy feedstock containing lignocellulosic material should go through the
aerobic digester with the rest of the material going directly into the
anaerobic digester. .
