Dear David,
India is full of small Honda generators that generate half a kilowatt.
Normally they run on petrol or kerosene, but one of our staff members
regularly uses biogas from his ARTI biogas plant to operate his domestic
Honda generator. He told me that he can watch TV and also light two
fluorescent tube lights simultaneously. We have also run a Kinetic Honda
scooter using our own biogas, which was compressed and filled into a
cylinder. ARTI biogas plant has a digester of 1000 litre capacity. It
accepts daily about half a bucket full of food waste (about 1 kg dry weight)
to produce daily about 600 litres of biogas. By the Kirloskar Oil Engines in
Pune have started to work again on developing an engine that would run on
biogas.
Yours
A.D.Karve
