Dear Cezar,
A closed system as envisaged by you is technically quite feasible. It is my
experience that any biodegradable organic matter would yield biogas. In the
case of freshly harvested green biomass, you may have to use a biphasic
digester. You should expect about 100 g methane per kg of biomass on dry
weight basis, wasting a lot on energy. If you want a high quality fuel for
operating an internal combustion engine, you may have to choose this
pathway.
