Subject: Re: Pilot bioreactor plant.
Dear Jaten,
I designed and constructed a one ton pilot bioreactor plant after assessing
many types that had been already in operation and experiencing problems with
scum formation, stratification and sedimentation. The designs were all
standing vertically as this was seen to be the simplest means to contain the
supernatant. These units presented problems with gas sealing for the
stirring mechanism and the vertical configuration can never fully allow the
floating matter to be dispersed and hydrated.
I configured the unit to lay horizontal with full length internal paddles
included in order to pull the scum formation into the mix and raise the
sediment into dispersion. This permits a total homogenization of the
supernatant when the paddles operate for very short periods, one or two
revolutions per minute once per hour. This requires very little energy and
can be provided by electric motor -mains supplied, solar powered or by
manual operation if necessary.
The outcome of the design is a high methane output, -better than 90%, no
leakages of gas or supernatant, a fully homogenized mix for full microbial
exposure and no blockages due to flocculation or clumping.
The spent supernatant is discharged by displacement when completed and
processed into a range of very beneficial liquid and solid fertilizer
compounds as well as products that will remediate toxic waste and
agglomerate oil spills on water.
I am happy to co-operate should you require more assistance.
Best Regards,
Peter Allison.
