NOT SO FAST, Peter. SUV's make great solar collectors. First gut the inside
and fill with rocks, painted black. Saw a hole in the top for the hot air to
be pumped into what ever. Lower down saw a hole for a return cold air pipe.
Seats and radio can be used on your porch.
Next we build a slow turn SI engine for someones generator. Pull the engine
out. Lets say it's a 6 cylinder. Remove 4
piston/connecting-rods/valve-push-rods. Now we have a nice 2 cylinder suction
gas engine. When these two pistons/cylinders wear out move on to one of the
other pairs (you'll have to pull out the old pistons and replace two of the
others that first were removed. Long life engine, three in one! Now we just
improved the volumetric efficiency because the engine will run close to open
throttle.
Lets use the four tires to grow potatoes in!
Wheel hub/bearings will be used to make our polyphase generator, just like the
homemade windmills.
Save the oil from the transmission and differential.
Pull the tranny out and disassemble. Keep all nuts and bolts. Gears could be
used to make some kind of pulping machine. Take a hammer to the housing and
crack it all up. Now we have some nice feedstock for casting aluminum parts.
Pull out all wire and keep for other projects. Never have enough wire!
Now you can sit on the porch with the radio cranked up admiring your handy
work.
Hope this helps!
Jeff
