[Gasification] Help with Heating Gasifier design (Starting to getconfused)

The drawings are just crude sketches to get the idea across quickly. The fan does need to be on the exhaust side though but only after the heat exchanger that I omitted from the sketches. My hopes are that this design will burn cleanly enough that the fan will only see smoke and tar during start-up and shut-down. Even then, any tar will probably condense on the heat exchanger walls before it gets to the fan.

Does the fan need to be on the exhaust side?

I'd imagine that it gets covered in tar after a while and can corrode or even seize the moving parts of the fan.

I yield to the experienced members of this group.

Sorry about the attachments. I thought that attachments were allowed but I can't find anything on how to go about sharing pictures on the list or about general etiquette and rules.

Thanks for your patience,
Steve

No drawings attached Steve, can you please resend with drawings so that I
can have a look at your set up? Thanks.

Shaun.
