[Gasification] Fw: Biomass heated ethanol plants

Dear Michael

We carry a Gasifier/Stove combination, as shown at:
http://www.wattpower.com/wpindex6.html

It is designed to operate a gas cooking stove system.

Its maximum gas energy output is about the equivalent of 10 M^3/Hr with a
calorific value of about 5,000 kJ/M^3, equal to about 14 kW. Given that a
burner requires between 1 kW to 3 kW, the gasifier should operate up to 4
such burners. Alternatively, the gas could be burned under a boiler, or
other system, with a burner of suitable design.

The hot gas from the gasifier (cylinder) is quenched in a water bath in the
gas cleaner (rectangular box) and partially cleaned. A blower (on the back)
of 80 watts provides suction for the gasifier, and discharge pressure for
the burners.

The gas is adequately clean for the burners provided with the gasifier.
However, tar levels are too much for feeding directly to an engine. We are
working on development of a suitable gas cleaning system.

Best wishes,

Kevin

I've seen some demonstrations of cook stoves like VITA (for example) and
thought what a great heat source for ethanol production.

  So, here's my next question.

Is there a gassifier design that can be used as either a cook stove or
gassifier for internal combustion engines, depending on the need?

Is it simply a matter of where you send the gas like to an engine intake
manifold or stove top through some kind of plenum?

  Hello All --

They know how to make cachaça in Brazil -- yeast fermentation in an open
vessels of sugar to ethanol with the vessel heated with bagasse -- filtered
and then reusing the yeast in the next batch -- no insulation here.

What's the big deal -- just do it as its done in Brazil.
