IMHO, I would gasify the wood then mix the air with the gas for the cleanest
burn.

A down draft would be helpful here.

I think this is the meat of your question. Interesting! I would first
prototype your idea out of scrap metal (barrels etc.), first. Before spending
the money on it. In other words, do some experimenting before casting your
creation in cement.
