[Gasification] Chunks

It would appear that many gasifiers prefer chunks to chips as such.

We are working on a ~1MWe CHP gasification project in Cornwall UK. The technology in question prefers chunks (ideally aprox 60cms square). A LAIMET (Finland) chipper will produce chunks of this size (or indeed 15 to 100cms), but is not particularly cheap at £10K - £23K excluding >160 HP tractor. My problem with Laimet is that I want to use a certain amount of what is known in the UK as clean waste wood which may contain the odd nail no matter how careful one is. A Laimet will deal with virgin timber very well, but the blades of the helical cutter are easily damaged by metal and expensive to replace.

No doubt JENZ (Austria) could custom build me a monster grinder, but these range from £50K to £250K.

Any other ideas? 5 - 10 tonnes/hr.
