Moving the plant to the biomass :

""The 1 Dry Ton Per Day (DTPD) conversion plant was concieved to offer a transportable, simple, cheap system to farmers. The unit had to be designed to be automated so that operator involvement was minimal. The plant is started up by the farmer himself, and only needs to be filled with biomass every 8 to 12 hours, bio-oil is drained and stored as needed. This eliminated the need for a trained operator to be present for operation, greatly reducing costs.

Although the plant was conceived to offer the farmer a simple, safe way to dispose of excess chicken litter and offset heating costs by using the bio-oil as a heating fuel in winter months, it is now apparent that this scale pyrolysis plant has a much broader range of applications, from biomass disposal to high value chemical production. It's small size allows easy transportation, meaning a co-operative of farmers could concievably share the initial cost of the plant and share it's use to maximize returns, making the payback from energy savings very quick.

After completing a series of tests at the CANMET/BCC facility, the 1TPD Pyrolysis plant was moved on-farm to a site located in Cumberland, On. where it will be subjected to long term tests and will undergo minor modifications. The plant was moved using only a 3/4 ton pickup and 14000lb trailer, making this type of plant easy to transport farm to farm. ""

Read the very interesting technology (low temp screw pyrolisis) history here :

Bio-oil, but still not Fischer-Tropsch diesel ! Is there any news from Eprida ?
