[Gasification] Water Treatment System for Condensates from Gasification

There are commercialized technologies for treatment of water/ condensate 
generated during coal based gasification but till date I have not come 
across any attempt which has been made for the development of the 
technology for biomass gasifier based condensate.

There are few studies for assessment of toxicity or composition of the 
condensate.

We are carrying out a study for characterization and treatment of 
condensate generated from gasification which shows some interesting 
results too. like condensate generated from ricehusk has low pH while from 
wood chips has high pH. I am still looking for a possible reason for the 
same. Tom has given his valuable inputs for the same but looking forward 
for inputs from others regarding same.

Moreover, charcoal generated after gasification of wood has been found to 
be a very cost effective activated charcoal to adsorb 70-80% of 
contaminants from the condensate.

On the above subject are there any available technologies to:

1)clean condensates from the gas stream to recover water and
2)dispose the contaminants (mostly are PAH compounds)
3)and to prevent contamination of environment of it.
