[Gasification] water injection of producer gas fired ic engines

Leland,

Long before WWII, JOHN DEERE used water injection to cool the combustion in
their 900 rpm, 8:1 compression ratio tractor engines. I remember during the
summer heat, the convection cooling used on those engines became challenged
and the radiator would boil over if you did not turn on the water injection.
It was only a mister nozzle in the intake to the engine and sent a fine
spray into the cylinder. The power available remained about the same as I
recall but the engine cooled right down.

Too bad they never thought to add a similar cooling spray for the tractor
operator.
