IMHO, Just my 2 cents (if that).

I think the heart of the gasifier system is the hearth and all the goodies are 
hung around it. So, all the "critical dimensions" are there. I would go with 
the choke plate design and remember that heat is our friend here 
(insulation). The rest is up to you.
