Hi Paul,

Great to hear about your research into the chinese stoves. I am
wondering about the steam injection too, you mention that his system is
patented, I have not seen that patent and just searched using the name
Hao, wood gas, wood, gassification, steam.
Many people claim patents, when what they mean is that it was
accepted as an application, and may or may not have been granted? A
patent number, date, or Mr. Hao's full name might turn up better
results. I wonder if the steam is being used simply as an inductor,
like in the "Dassifier" created by the cohort of Dr. Reed? If so it
is a simple solution to eliminating your fan, and still achieving strong
positive draft. It makes me wonder if one the tin steam boat toys,
which use the simplest steam rocket rocket possible (think V2 buzz bomb
from WW2) as a simple safe steam source as an inductor? technicaly I
guess these would be considered pulse jets, or pulse steam rockets?
(they are already built in india, and cost only a few dollars here
through Lee Vally tools).
If they are used as an inductor I would expect that the holes would face
generaly in the direction of the gass flow? and would have a clear space
that they are aimed into, they may be aimed a bit radialy? I have
used these sort of inductors (hole in the side of pipe) to induct air
into propane furnaces, this may be the same thing the other way around?
Sometimes when a short non laminar flame is wanted, the jets (holes) may
be aimed in quite radial fashion, inducing a heavy swirl, but they would
all be pointing in the same general direction, the direction the gas is
wanted to move. Adding a bit of detergent to the water supply might
give a bit of a phosphate flare, showing the steams path clearly? Will
we see pictures? Are these the stoves that are adveritised for sale by
a Canadian on the East Coast somewhere? He may even be a listserve
member, if so perhaps he can shed some light?
I suspect that the steam isn't helpful to combustion in this sort of
stove. I do think steam injection has it's uses, but in this
secenario, it seems to me it is more likely for draft induction which is
vital for controled combustion.

Best wishes
Drew
