Hello CAVM,
I am interested in the UCG project which you are considering an
involvement in as it is very likely that, www.ErgoExergy.com is the
technology supplier. Having been a recipient of messages posted to
the gasification at listserv.repp.org list for quite some time, this
the first mention of UCG I have seen.
Your initial caution is unsurprising as there have been a number of
errors in UCG trials across the Western world however there are very
reliable processes for producing UCG-syngas without the risk of
environmental disruptions such as the "out of control underground
coal fires" which you fear.
We have recently updated our website, a long-overdue endeavour, and
now have a sizeable array of information on Underground Coal
Gasification including a simplified 3D animation / fly-thru of the
process. I implore you to take the time to learn more about UCG as
in the not too distant future, the process will likely supply more
of the world's total energy demand than oil and natural gas.
If anyone has any questions on UCG, I am more than happy to respond
in detail.
