A Gasifier is a device designed to convert a solid or liquid fuel
into a gaseous fuel.

This gas may be used immediately on-site, or cooled and stored for
later use.

Techniques include:

Using the heat of combustion of some of that fuel to drive reduction
reactions between the exhaust and a carbon bank; or combining the
fuel with steam, under pressure in the presence of a catalyst,
resulting primarily in H2 and CO gas output.

Applications include:

Using this fuel gas to power an Internal Combustion Engine, burning
the gaseous fuel for heat, or processing high-quality gas further to
synthesize useful compounds such as Methanol.
