Simple economics. Corn prices must go up to support
the development of newer and better fuelstocks such as
switchgrass, algae, etc, etc. I trust that people will
come up with money to determine the best use of corn,
or any commodity. You could eat hominy from field corn
at $20 a bushel and spend a small fraction of what you
now spend on calories. Probably be healthier too.
We need to a switchgrass market to develop millions of
acres of unused wasteland, and achieve energy
independence. Of course add all the other forms of
renewable energy to the pot. All of this will
stimulate the economy greatly, also the trade deficit.
The Big Oil people here and in the Middle East are
aware of this. They will lower the price of oil
dramatically at the most opportune times. This will be
in an effort to derail all our good intentions, and
keep us dependent on their oil. We need a new vision,
or will slowly boil like the frog who doesn't jump
out of the pot.
All the best,
Ron Wagner
