It was called an "inverted downdraft", simply because it was very similar
to a downdraft gasifier turned upsiode down. When this was done, the fire
was the on the top.
Then it was very easy to use a simple "pressure fan" at the bottom to
develop a "delta P" across the bed, and keep the fire going. Researchers
could easily see what was going on.
So, I would suggest that if you reverted an inverted downdraft, you would
have pressurized downdraft gasifier with bottom discharge at atmospheric
pressure.
Recall from a previous thread about a month or 7 weeks ago, where there was a
detailed discussion on DD and IDD gasifiers, and there was a feeling that
they are different in detail, because of convection forces. In both cases,
the "Superficial Velocity" is important.
Best wishes,
Kevin
