I've already figured out at least two simple ways to insert air injection
at the throat -- if such is required

Ergo -- from the top -- or from the bottom -- a ring inserted with drilled
holes of appropriate sizes and a pipe leading to the atmosphere. Either
lower in though the cover -- or inserted up through the large ash pit door.

Either way -- if knocked on it doubles as a bridging breaker.
