Dear Jeff,

> My gasifier is constructed from a discarded hot water tank.<

That's great. I've found junked electric hot water heater tanks a great
resource. My second prototype charcoal retort is nearing completion. It's
built from a junked 40 gallon hot water heater. Based on the reported
service lives I estimate the USA alone is generating well over 2 million
junked hot water heaters annually. Dozens per month pass through just one
local plumbing contractor in my burg. The nearest to me. The others also
always have 6-10 sitting next to the dumpsters.

Tanks are heavier gauge metal than oil drums and take welding nicely. And
they're a lot safer to cut open than scrapped propane tanks. Factory new
they're pressure tested to 300 psi and rated for 150 psi.

The steel jackets are a great free source of sheet metal, too.

Best Wishes,

Mark
