Hi
If the tar residue that builds up in the vacuum of the inlet manifold of
engines running on producer gas was subject to the heat of exhaust gas,
would it burn away or turn to something harder and even more of a problem.
I got to thinking about this and wondered if possible to have a 'cleaning'
mode for the engine where some of the hot exhaust gas was recycled into the
inlet chamber, mixed with sufficient 'new' gas to keep the engine spinning
whilst it was 'cleaning'. I guess you would need to protect the inlet from
actual flame but that is doable with a fine screen.
Prolly just a flakey idea, but then again some flakey ideas have hidden
legs and can run. Maybe its been tried before. Maybe it simply wouldn't
work for factors I have missed. Who knows?
