Dear Andy:

I visited Mel Strand in Colorado Springs several times to ride in his
reconstructed WWII gasifier truck. He drove one in Norway thru WWII,
delivering groceries during daylight and arms to the underground at
night. You can see pictures of his truck on our website at
http://www.woodgas.com/history.htm. I'd like to buy it when I get flush
with cash. He drives it in parades and once up Pike's Peak. VERY SIMPLE.

It has always amazed me that over a million gasifiers powered the
civilian economies of much of Europe and Asia during WWII

    * When the world was at war and materials scarce
    * When no one really understood the reactions

How come we aren't making gasifiers that are ten times as good today?
(We're working on it at BEF
