I've had basic instructions in servicing two different makes, Kob and
Kuenzel.
They're both downdraught devices and they gasify but I guess they're
more correctly termed close coupled combustors. Both have full
electric ignition, electronic control and closed loop operation.
A schematic is at:

Lemmings with non compliant software c/o Mr. Gates will need to watch
any word wrap. I suspect a previous reference to this, on one of the
REPP lists, by me lead to their introduction to UK.
I know a bit more about the Kuenzel model but as none have broken down
yet I'm not really familiar with them. I have seen the Kuenzel burning
oak offcuts at >40% mc wwb visibly cleanly. The Kob uses an id fan but
the Kuenzel pressurises the hopper, which surprised me.
When I built one of the burners I found that the throat between the
two chambers quickly burned out, on these models this area is
effectively water cooled. My friend Danny has built me a device to my
own design that has the benefit of a depression in the hopper and no
id fan. Instead there is an entrainment device between the two parts,
a bit like the Dasifier, but we haven't had enough time to evaluate it
yet.
