has anyone here seen one of these "fire piston" lighters? i'm
somewhat surprised this hasn't surface more often in the online forums
relating to combustion. i'd never heard of one of these. it is
obvious after the fact. why didn't i think if this?

what gearhead/diesel driver/general combustion enthusiast wouldn't want one?

The fire piston predates the internal combustion engine it is a
primitave yet effective fire starting tool. Liam could probably make
one out of acrylic on the lathe and use it to light a cigerette in
under 20 minutes. There is some speculation that rudolf diesel
developed the diesel engine after witnessing this fascinating device.
