Dear Greenhouse gassers-
There was a lumberjack which walked into a lumberjack bar and boasted "
I am the greatest lumberjack that ever lived". One of the other lumberjacks
said "Oh yeah, where did you work?" The boastful lumberjack said "in the
Sahara". The other lumberjack said "The Sahara is a desert", the boastful lumberjack
said "see, it used to be a forest until I got there".
The truth is according the an excellent special on the Sahara on the
History Channel this last week is that 10,000 years ago, it was a forest,
verdent, green with rivers, lakes and a very large population in it. Then, the earth
tilted in it's axis and the solar insolation decreased, reducing the
evaporation from the ocean and creating the desert. This process is still going on, with
the Sahara moving northward towards the Mediterrean.
So, the concept of global warming causing the loss of icecaps,
snowpacks, glaciers and the like needs to be really revisited. Man is doing some very
stupid things and this is one of them.
Before taking this position to task, see the show.
