This might not be a good road to travel... the energy required for
shredding is roughly proportional to the new surface area created. The
gasoline energy consumed per pound of paper shredded could be excessive.
On the other hand, if you had a device that tore up the cardboard and
paper to uniform, larger sizes, you might be able to make something that
had a low "production energy content."
