My grand father and Dad told/tell stories about how they would, in the
winter time, go down to the creek or pond and cut ice out. This would be
stored through the year till next winter, sawdust. This ice would be used
to keep their food Also how they stored potatoes etc in the ground over
winter (stay fresher than in a fridge).

I have a book that shows how to make these ice freezers (or maybe it's a
fridge?).

Hey, now that's working with nature.

OK, it will not work where Peter lives.
