[Gasification] OT CO2 emissions, resource development

Dear Leland and list members.
....Yes...!!..,even though there are many view points on climate change,
global warming or whatever we want to call it...I feel really certain that
the worst enemy human being could face is Mother Nature...!!!. Once it
starts striking down on us there is no pre-emptive war, no UN summits or
dialogues, no conversation to agree upon...there is nothing to stop it...but
humbly stand on any thing coming to us from its powerful actions....for
instance, stronger hurricane, places having lots of rain while others
suffering from deep dryness etc. I seriously think that we must be really
careful about Mother Nature and keep with it a really friendly relationship;
otherwise nobody knows where a war, against Mother Nature, can take us.
Kindest regards.
Oscar.

Asunto: Re: [Gasification] OT CO2 emissions, resource development
Although the CO2 emission rates for developed nations is higher than
non-developed, other measurements for determining state of advancement of a
society
can be use of sulfuric acid/person, kwhrs electricity/person etc., as a
positive
meaning.
Of course it is irrelevant how much CO2 is emitted as to the effect on
climate.
I find it absolutely amazing how well brainwashed the world has become about
this issue. The media is spectacular in creating an issue out of a non-issue
and help sell their presence. Evey article I read about some weather
condition,
it is blamed on global warming.
Resource availability is a pure matter of economics and politics. There are
millions of tons of metals in the US which cannot be mined because of
environmental requirements which make it impossible to remove the ores of
metals like
copper which is leaving billions of dollars of value in the dirt. At
$3/pound
for copper, many marginal deposits can be mined economically.
Fuel costs could be cut in half by a massive synthetic fuels program as was
started during the Carter administration, and when underway, the price of
oil
dropped and they were abandoned in the Reagan administration. For the oil
companies who have the resources and technology to put them in place, dare
they
make the multi-billion dollar investment only to see it evaporate when it is
far
enough along to have the producing nations drop the prices again? Look at
the
history of the Nortern Plains Gasification facility for a good economics
lesson.
The development of nuclear power would certainly distort the CO2 numbers. I
wonder how France shows up in this analysis as it is a high nuclear power
user?
Of course, it is a good answer to the concerns about global warming fantasy
and has minimal real environmental impact if the irrational fears are
removed.
There is a uranium enrichment plant under development in Eastern New Mexico.
One presidential candidate endorsed it, our governor who used to be
Secretary
of Energy, US Ambassador to the UN and has negotiated with N. Korea, Iraq,
Iran, and other hostiles. We probably need to revive the fuel rod processing
facility in Oak Ridge which was cancelled under Carter because his 10 or 12
year
daughter was afraid of terrorists getting the nuclear grade material from
it.
Or course, out of the mouths of babes comes major policy standings and
wisdom.
As far as irrational human activities, look at India's. They have or had the
largest herd of cows on earth and starved, refusing to eat them because they
thought that they were reincarnated ancestors. Even their dung was revered.
Man's opinions mostly have very little basis on rational thoguht and we
suffer or
are rewarded accordingly. Science is suffering the same "Dark Ages" effect
when it comes to global warming.
Sincerely,
Leland T. Taylor
