Or -- how many calories of food intake per capita --
Tom -- unsustainable means just that -- unsustainable.
The only reason we eat is because of a glut of fossil fuel resources --
which are limited.
We can extend this period of dependency in numerous ways -- of which I
shall suggest but two.
One -- lower per capita consumption drastically by conserving.
Two -- lower consumers -- drastically -- by "die-off"
And Oscar -- for your information -- the second option can be
scientifically labeled as:
"The Nature of Things"
As for your comments Oscar --
A diversified -- totally self sustainable -- system of human existence
pretty well survives anything Nature (or the nature of things) can throw at
it.
This is historically very well proven.
Our new dream -- the present "Utopia" -- based on continuously increasing
population levels -- cheating natural survival "limits" by using cheap
energy -- while further allowing human population levels to greatly
incre4ased -- is not yet a proven means of racial survival.
Though I sense tom is believing there can be a viable solutions -- where we
can continue to greed out on energy and maintain high and higher population
levels -- to continue to feed the capitalist merchant "economy"
(consumerism) -- by we all simply developing new technologies --
Well -- that is betting against the nature of things huge time.
Tom -- ever consider a smaller number of humans living high tech
conservatively with out dependency on increasing consumption continuously
to keep "economy" going??
But -- you then would have to take the cows out of that barn -- and put
them to productive activity -- and we know that is no longer an option.
Productive activity Tom is not "working" in mass media -- advertising --
sales -- governing -- flipping burgers at the burger stand -- driving
vehicles all about for entertainment etc --
Tom -- you go ahead an bet on those beliefs you profess to know as good odds.
To my way of thinking -- those odds are way to long.
You might pull it off -- if you did like GWB just did -- and got a huge
ranch way in the Jungles -- far from all of this -- in Paraguay!
Cut and run might just work -- but putting all the cows in that big barn
you just built -- probably will not.
Your new wave society has no soul -- so it's members become to confused --
they lose their stamina to survive.
I am going to post and example of that last statement -- probably breaking
all records ever on this list in regards to posting something off topic.
But I feel many here will relate to it -- I sure did!!
"Koyaanisqatsi" is a Hopi word. It means "life out of balance."
Tom and Oscar -- there is more to the nature of things than just the
weather ---
To succeed -- one needs a real will to at least live -- and to have that --
one needs a real life.
Turning great masses of humans into cows to feed a consumerist economy so a
few out of tune with the nature of things people can prosper is not what I
consider a succesful strategy.
Oscar -- you and your people better remember this --- cause your time of
choice soon comes -- try not to emulate the wrong pattern of existence.
The Nature of things is the ultimate judge -- never forget!!
Mexico did -- and so does China now --- but two current exasmples.
When any society of man sets themselves up to over complicated -- then sure
-- any kind of natural event becomes to deadly.
Hey Tom -- you all got NOLA back together yet??
Tom -- dreams like you propose are one thing -- realites is another -- try
never to confuse one for the other.
You can only foget so many NOLAs -- then reality catches you.
I believe Havana got hit just as hard that year -- and got put back
together in short order -- wonder why such a difference??
Excuse me Tom for ever being the realist -- with opened eyes for as much
true observation as possible -- all the better to be warned -- and all the
better to plan.
And no more time to dream the "DREAM" ---
Will Miami be the next "NOLA"???
Shame on you folks -- shame -- shame -- shame!!
