In the Netherlands a methanol plant is being converted from running on
natural gas to running on glycerol from the production of diesel from
rape seed. First gasified to syn gas then processed as usual.

Subject: [Gasification] Biodiesel by product.

Dear List.

Hope this does not stray to far from our objective of sustainable
renewable energy.

While in Norway I met with a company called Milvenn (www.milvenn.no
<http://www.milvenn.no>) that produces biodiesel from Mcdonalds and
other fast food's grease. One of the byproducts is Glycerol which is,
according to management at Milvenn a disposal headache.

Discussion we had was; Can this stuff be processed through a
gasification or pyrolysis system to produce energy instead of dumping in
a landfill, something no likes to do. I'm aware that Glycerin can be
used to make some products but IF it can be used for energy, this would
be better.

I would appreciate feedback on this issue. Thanks in Advance.
