4) Doesn't the thermolysis of water trade-off more H2 for less CO as the CO
is oxidized to CO2? I realize this is reversible.

Subject: [Gasification] Questions on gasifiers form a newcomer
I have a few doubts that could be easy for the veterans of the list to
answer.
1) As the size of the gasifier is reduced, the temperature goes down, due to
the surface to volume ratio, so a small hot zone, and at lower temperatures,
this should define a limit as to how small a gasifier can get to feed gas to
a small engine.
2) As for small engines, how small can they get, I have seen photos on the
web of a motorcycle with a gasifier. what are the problems and of using a
small engine, (i am thinking of a 900 cc gasoline engine) with and
oversized, undersized and just right size gasifier? I read somewhere that
you need to modify the camshaft in some way, how? and how important is it?
3) what could be the performance and problems of using a oversize and
undersized gasifier with an small engine.
4) As I understand and please correct me if I am wrong, (and thanks to
Williams for his excellent postings, thanks Doug), once you can achieve and
maintain a hot zone inside the gasifier, if you inject steam (not water) the
steam suffers a thermolisys and splits in oxygen and Hydrogen, hydrogen is
welcome to the efficiency of the gasifier, and the oxygen burn more fuel ,
but where? should you decrease the intake of air as this happens? is this
oxygen burning fuel lower in the downdraft gasifier? is the temperature
increased? how hot must the gasifier be to start injecting steam? what is
the smallest gasifier that can do this? can you inject steam in a gasifier
burning wood?
Thanks in advance for your answers.
